Third Grade Standards to practice for the upcoming 2017-2018 School Year

 

Get ready for Third Grade!!

Orchard Elementary School

 

Objectives to Practice Over the Summer to be Prepared for 3rd Grade

Reading:

Incoming third graders should know these SIGHT words: about, better, bring, carry, clean, cut, done, draw, drink, eight, fall, far, full, got, grow, hold, hot, hurt, if, keep, kind, laugh, light, long, much, myself, never, only, own, pick, seven, shall, show, six, small, start, ten, today, together, try, warm.

·         Identify the main idea of a text.

·         Be able to compare and contrast two topics.

·         Read with fluency to support comprehension.

Language Arts:

·         Use correct capitalization and punctuation.

·         Produce simple sentences.

·         Recognize nouns in a sentence.

·         Write legibly!

Math:

·         Add and subtract two three-digit numbers, with and without regrouping

(ex. 123+456)

·         Create arrays. (ex. Use candy to show 3 rows of 4)

·         Solve simple one-step word problems.

·         Tell time to the five-minute mark.
