SCHOOLinSITES - Quick Reference Guide

Notify Me© is a feature of SCHOOLinSITES which afford visitors to the school and district
website the opportunity of subscribing to the website for the purpose of receiving important "at
will" electronic news and announcements. The nature of these announcements is determined by
the school or district.


Using Notify Me©
It is important to establish how your school or district intends to use this feature before it is
promoted to the public. In other words, those who register should know what to expect* prior to
signing up for the service. The feature can be used to:


♦ Call attention to information already posted on the website (use hyperlinks within the
notification message to direct registrants to the desired information)


♦ Send quick messages concerning sudden conditions such as:
o Early dismissal
o Changes in a previously established event (sports schedule, school pictures, PTO
meeting)
o Promote upcoming functions (such as fundraisers, fall festival, testing, school
pictures, etc.)
o Any other desired quick announcements


*Use website areas such as School Highlights, Latest News or perhaps a newsletter home to
announce this feature in accordance with the school's intended use.

 


Signing Up for the Service


Visitors to your website take the following steps:
1. Click the Notify Me© icon where found on the website.
2. Enter their e-mail address (in the two fields provided)
3. Leave the checkbox (�� Keep me informed about important school information.)
4. Click the Submit button.
5. Complete the process as directed in the resulting screen. (Check your inbox for
confirmation and check the box to activate your subscription.)


NOTE: If step #5 above is not completed, registrant will not be an active subscriber.

 


Sending Alerts/Notifications to Subscribers


1. Select School Admin Areas from pull-down menu; click Email Notification.
2. Type the message or important announcement in the text editor provided. (If calling
attention to some information on the website, provide a hyperlink to that specific area for
easy access to registrant upon receipt of the notification.)
3. Enter the title of the message (will be the subject matter of message in the registrant's
mailbox).
4. Check Spelling (recommended).
